Phil or The Today Show haven't gotten wind of this book and author. My generation of parents need to read this book for the next generation. It's never too late to improve. This is one of those books that really helps put parenting in perspective. It helps draw a clear line in the sand for parents who want their kids to be happy but self functioning and independent. It also provides a backbone for the weak moments we all have as parents, when it would just be easier to give them what they want then teach them what's best! Especially in a culture that encourages parents to over indulge their children, this book is a like a breath of fresh air on an open cut: Quinn teaches the importance of creating boundries and rules so that children grow up taking responsibility for their decisions and consequences.
Even if you think this topic does not apply to you, it's well worth the read.
Plus we all know someone who needs to read it! One person found this helpful. I was happy that my kids really didn't qualify as "fat dogs"; however, this book did get my mind rolling on a few parenting ideas. The theories presented in this book were good, but they weren't anything new to me.
I recommend this book if you feel your children may be spoiled and that you may be overprotective of them. This book was a quick read, and I did think of a few people who may benefit from it. Keep your dogs and cats away from the nesting area.
Cottontails are ready to leave the nest at weeks of age. If the nest has been disturbed, even by a lawnmower, put all the babies and bedding back in place. If you find a small rabbit hopping around that appears to be too young to be on its own, remember: Help for Baby Rabbits It is very common to uncover a nest of cottontail rabbits that may appear to be abandoned. If you determine that the babies are injured or in need of assistance: Place them in a small box with the bedding from their nest, if possible, or soft rags. Baby cottontails are incredibly fragile and do not take handling by humans well.
